Pairing TVs and the tablet

Pair a TV or the back-of-house tablet, rename it, remove it, and fix a screen that goes blank.

Pair a TV

  1. On the TV, open barquizzes.com/tv in the browser. It shows a 6-character code.
  2. On your phone or laptop, open Setup → Screens & tablets.
  3. Type the code under Pair a screen, and give the TV a name like "Bar TV – North".
  4. Press Pair device. The TV joins your list under Paired.

The code works for 10 minutes, so have the TV showing it before you start typing.

Pair the tablet

  1. The back-of-house tablet belongs to Ops. If your venue does not use Ops, skip this part.
  2. On the tablet, open barquizzes.com/floor. It shows a 6-character code.
  3. In Ops, open Setup → Tablet. Type the code, give it a name, set What is it? to Back-of-house tablet, then press Pair device.

The tablet signs the person out after 60 seconds idle, so the next person has to sign in with their own PIN.

Rename or unpair

  1. In Trivia, open Setup → Screens & tablets.
  2. Find the screen under Paired. To remove it, press Remove.
  3. To rename a screen, remove it and pair it again with the new name.

Removing a screen only forgets it. The TV goes back to showing a code, and you can pair it again any time.

If a screen goes blank

  1. Refresh the browser on the TV.
  2. Check the TV is on barquizzes.com/tv and that it has a connection to the internet.
  3. If it asks for a code, pair it again with the steps above.
  4. Check Setup → Screens & tablets. A screen that shows Off has not been seen lately.

A refresh does not lose the game. Players do not need the bar Wi-Fi, but the TV does. A phone hotspot works in a pinch. Still stuck? See When something's not working.
