Setting up Ops
The six steps to get your crew, your tablet and your first shift ready, in the order the floor needs them.
Name your dayparts
- In Ops, open Setup → Shifts.
- Under Dayparts, fill in Name, Starts and Ends for each part of your day, like Lunch and Dinner. Press + Add daypart for more, up to 8.
- Tick Until close on the last one instead of setting an end time.
- Press Save shifts.
Everything else in Ops hangs off these. The current shift follows the clock, and the day turns over at 4:00 AM, so a 1 AM close still belongs to the night before. Times are in your venue's time zone, which you change in Venue settings.
Add your crew
- Open Setup → Crew.
- Under Add crew, type a Name, tick their Stations and choose a 4-digit PIN.
- Press Add crew. Repeat for everyone on your roster.
Your crew do not need accounts, just a name and a PIN they type on the tablet. To change a PIN later, use Set PIN next to their name. If someone is locked out, press Unlock.
Set your manager PIN
- Open Setup → Ops settings.
- Under Your manager PIN, check Name on the tablet and type a 4-digit New PIN.
- Press Save PIN.
You use this PIN on the tablet to sign off a checklist or acknowledge a handoff. After 5 wrong tries it locks. Saving a new PIN here unlocks it.
Pair the back-of-house tablet
- On the tablet, open barquizzes.com/floor. It shows a 6-character code.
- In Ops, open Setup → Tablet.
- Type the code under Code on the screen and give the tablet a Name.
- Change What is it? to Back-of-house tablet. It starts on TV.
- Press Pair device.
The code works for 10 minutes. The tablet signs the person out after 60 seconds idle, so each person signs back in with their own PIN.
Publish your first lineup
- Open Lineup and pick the daypart along the top.
- Type tonight's focus and press Save.
- To add an item, choose its type (Special, Heads-up or Shoutout), type it in Add an item and press Add. Tick Must-read if the crew has to read it.
- Press Publish lineup and confirm.
A lineup is a draft until you publish it, and the crew cannot see it. The tablet shows a shift's lineup from 60 minutes before it starts. Once it is published, anything you add goes out as an update.
Create your first checklist
- Open Checklists.
- Fastest start: under Starter checklists, choose a Shift, tick the lists you want and press Add starters. They arrive with their items already in.
- Or build your own under New checklist: give it a Name, a Shift and a Station, then press Create checklist. The list opens straight away.
- Open the list if it is not already open, then type each task in Item and press Add item. Tick Photo required where you want proof, and set Points.
A list with no items does not show up on the tablet. A name with "close" in it turns on Needs manager sign-off for you. Changes apply from the next shift.
